Journey to Austral Lands and Valdes Peninsula
Tour Overview
Journey to an unforgettable 20-day polar expedition cruise to explore the Southern Ocean like never before, journeying from the Valdes Peninsula to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the pristine shores of Antarctica.
Your adventure begins on the rugged Valdes Peninsula in Patagonia, a wildlife sanctuary unlike any other. This region, with its stark landscapes, diverse flora, and iconic haciendas, is teeming with life. The arid steppes are home to over 180 bird species, while orcas hunt young maned seals on the beaches, and guanacos roam the plains. Dusky dolphins glide through the waters as Magellanic penguins keep a watchful eye. In this untouched paradise, nature’s wonders unfold before your eyes, providing an extraordinary gateway into the wild.
From here, your ship sets sail towards Falkland Islands and call in to explore Port Stanley, the capital of this remote archipelago. Then cruise to South Georgia, a mountainous island surrounded by towering glaciers. It was on these shores that Sir Ernest Shackleton’s legendary Endurance expedition came to a dramatic halt in 1916. Today, the island is a haven for king penguins, elephant seals, and fur seals, who dominate the black-sand beaches beneath snow-capped peaks.
Sail onwards to the Antarctic Peninsula, where zodiac outings and shore landings allow you to discover the infinite riches of Antarctica, making this once-in-a-lifetime expedition truly unforgettable.
** SPECIAL GUEST: On the 25 February 2027 departure, Jonathan Shackleton, polar historian and cousin of the legendary Sir Ernest Shackleton will be onboard, sharing a series of lectures and informal talks exploring the heroic age of Antarctic exploration, the enduring legacy of Shackleton, polar literature and the natural history of the region.
