Explore Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica on our 4 day tour.

Tortuguero National Park, on Costa Rica's  Caribbean coast is a protected wilderness area of rainforest, rivers, lagoons and beaches. Explore by canoe, boat, on foot looking out for an impressive array of  flora and fauna. There are 186 identified bird species, 3 of the four species of monkeys in Costa Rica, alligators, crocodiles, toucans, sloths, and much more. The main attraction though of course are the turtles; Green Sea Turtles, leatherback, and Hawksbill turtles nest on the beaches here, from July to October.

Tortuguero Experience is perfect for those wanting to delve a little deeper in Costa Rica, and is designed to combine with our Signature Costa Rica tour.

Tortuguero can be visited year round. July – October for the turtle nestings. For the best weather, September and October are the best times to visit Tortuguero.

Explore Tortuguero National Park on foot through the jungle or by canoe and boat through the canals, perfect for wildlife spotting.

Spend days exploring looking for monkeys, sloths, caiman, frogs, birds and more. Plus take some time to unwind and relax in a hammock.

Day 1
San Jose Tortuguero

You will travel from San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital, away from the city and into the protected wilderness that is Tortuguero National Park. To arrive at your hotel, you will navigate along the canals and pass through Tortuguero Village. At your hotel you will receive a welcome cocktail and enjoy lunch to settle in and discuss tours for the coming days. Perhaps relax by the pool to finish your afternoon.

Day 2
Tortuguero

Today begins with a boat or canoe tour on the canals of Tortuguero National Park. After breakfast, there are a broad range of tours on offer from taking a hike through the jungle, kayaking, canopy tours and guided tours of Green Turtle Museum. Tours are dependent on seasonal weather and will be confirmed at your accommodation on arrival.

Day 3
Tortuguero Tours

Choose from the broad array of tours on offer from day two or relax in a hammock at the beach or by the pool. If you choose to explore Tortuguero National Park once more, be sure to be on the look out for toucans, slaty tailed trogons, frogs and parrots. Should your visit take place in July, be sure not to miss witnessing turtles nesting and hatching at night on the beach.

Day 4
Tortuguero Arenal

You will depart your accommodation, stopping briefly in Tortuguero town for lunch before travelling to La Fortuna via Arenal.

Famous for the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges near Lake Arenal Dam, Arenal provides two diverse ecosystems to explore during an afternoon and twilight tour. The lowland and highland rainforests collide to provide a habitat for a diverse range of birdlife and animals including toucans, crested guans, sloths, tapirs, spider monkeys and even jaguars. Afterwards you will be transferred to your accommodation in La Fortuna, your final destination.
