Tortuguero National Park, on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast is a protected wilderness area of rainforest, rivers, lagoons and beaches. Explore by canoe, boat, on foot looking out for an impressive array of flora and fauna. There are 186 identified bird species, 3 of the four species of monkeys in Costa Rica, alligators, crocodiles, toucans, sloths, and much more. The main attraction though of course are the turtles; Green Sea Turtles, leatherback, and Hawksbill turtles nest on the beaches here, from July to October.

Tortuguero can be visited year round. July – October for the turtle nestings. For the best weather, September and October are the best times to visit Tortuguero.
