New Years Antarctic Circle Crossing
Tour Overview
Celebrate the New Year at the bottom of the world on this 13-day Antarctic Circle Crossing, a journey few ever experience.
Step into a land of ice, wildlife, and wonder as our expert Polar team guides you through Antarctica’s astonishing landscapes, fascinating history, and remarkable wildlife. Engage in our pioneering Citizen Science program or simply soak in the awe-inspiring scenery, watching penguins, whales, and seabirds accompany our ship across the frigid southern waters.
Sailing south through the Bransfield Strait, the Antarctic Peninsula unfolds in breathtaking grandeur. Sculptural icebergs, penguin colonies, and curious fur seals greet us along the way. With an extra day to explore, we’ll visit historic sites like Damoy Point, watch for humpback whales in Wilhelmina Bay, and, weather permitting, enter the iconic Lemaire Channel to welcome the New Year. Crossing the Antarctic Circle at 66°33’S, we’ll raise a glass to a rare and unforgettable achievement before exploring remote British Survey bases and turning north.
The northernmost reaches of Antarctica await, with Livingstone, Greenwich, and King George Islands offering dramatic peaks and vibrant wildlife. Gentoo and Chinstrap Penguins, formidable Giant Petrels, and even the eerie volcanic landscape of Deception Island invite exploration. At Yankee Harbour, history whispers from rusting ruins and black sand shores.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime Antarctic adventure you’ll remember forever.
