Day 1
Quito

On arrival into Quito you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The city is situated 2,850 metres above sea level within the Andean foothills and is known for its snow-capped mountain backdrop, colonial architecture and artwork. Once part of the Incan Empire, Quito has been declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site thanks to its well-preserved historic centre.

Quito

Today, you will embark on an immersive tour meticulously crafted to engage all of your senses. This experience promises to awaken your touch, tantalize your taste buds with culinary delights, fill your nostrils with the rich aroma of coffee beans, treat your eyes to the sight of beautiful cobblestone-lined streets and historical edifices, and serenade your ears with the melodic tolling of church bells. Moreover, we've included the sixth sense of love; you'll feel the passion that local artisans pour into their crafts and even have the chance to participate in a demonstration.

Embark on your journey with an immersive exploration of Quito's vibrant streets and squares, steeped in colonial charm. Wander through the renowned Street of the Seven Crosses, admire the grandeur of Independence Square and Government Palace, and marvel at the ornate domes adorning historic churches. A leisurely stroll along bustling La Ronda street, alive with character and bustling activity, awaits. Depending on availability, your day may include visits to artisans, indulging in traditional sweets with a delightful taste test, or joining a painting session with the esteemed Escuela Quiteña, known for their restoration work on colonial art in the city's historic chapels. You may also try your hand at making traditional ice cream or quesadillas, or even weaving the iconic toquilla straw hat. Additionally, we can arrange visits to local markets where you can savor authentic cuisine, ensuring a tailored experience that reflects your preferences.

As the day comes to an end, retreat to the enchanting neighborhood of San Marcos. This area is filled with galleries, cozy coffee shops, and delightful family-owned stores, all set against the backdrop of elegant Neo-Classical architecture adorned in soft pastels. Wrap up your tour with a relaxing drink at a rooftop bar, boasting stunning views of Panecillo hill, surrounded by the historic cityscape.

Cotopaxi National Park

After breakfast, we'll set off for a brief excursion to the National Park, home to the iconic Cotopaxi Volcano, a pivotal landmark in Ecuador renowned as the world's highest active volcano. Here, you'll immerse yourself in the endemic flora and fauna of the region, encountering notable species such as the Chuquiragua, also known as the mountaineer's flower, as well as wild horses, deer, llamas, and more. Within the park, you'll also have the opportunity to marvel at Limpiopungo Lake, nestled near the towering Rumiñahui volcano, standing at an impressive altitude of 4757 meters.

Following our exploration, we'll venture to the acclaimed market of Pujili. For many, a trip to Ecuador remains incomplete without experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of a traditional market, where locals from surrounding villages and towns converge to trade crafts and goods, sustaining their livelihoods and bolstering the local economy. Pujili market offers an authentic ambiance, attracting fewer tourists and boasting a diverse array of meticulously crafted goods, distinct from those found in more tourist-heavy areas. The afternoon will see us retiring to a typical Lodge or Hacienda for a restful overnight stay.

Chimborazo National Park

Embark on a serene journey to Chimborazo National Park, where you'll encounter Ecuador's remarkable natural beauty. Upon arrival, witness the towering presence of Chimborazo volcano and delve into the park's history at the Visitor Center. Traverse diverse ecosystems, from Andean forests to the ethereal páramo, observing unique flora and fauna along the way. Ascend into the Andean highlands for panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and pristine lakes. Our expert guide will illuminate the park's ecological significance as you encounter native wildlife. Conclude your day with a transfer to your hotel in Riobamba, filled with memories of nature's majesty and the tranquility of Chimborazo.

Riobamba Cuenca

Embark on a scenic drive to the town of Alausi, making brief stops along the way to admire the historic "Balbanera" Church, the first Catholic church built in Ecuador in 1534. Our journey continues to the charming village of Guamote, where we'll begin by visiting the educational center of the Inti Sisa community. Here, we'll have the opportunity to explore the traditional art of weaving as we visit the home of a local artisan who will demonstrate the intricate process of crafting typical ponchos from the wool of sheep and alpacas. Concluding our visit to Guamote, we'll step into an authentic Andean house, known as a Choza, gaining insight into the daily life of mountain-dwelling communities. After a scenic 45-minute drive, we'll arrive in Alausi, where we can pause at San Pedro hill for a panoramic view of the city and visit the train station for a folkloric presentation and a leisurely stroll through the Valley.

Following our exploration of the Andean landscapes, we'll journey onwards to Cuenca, stopping to marvel at the awe-inspiring Inca Ruins of Ingapirca. This ancient fortress, showcasing a blend of Inca and Cañari architecture, stands as one of Ecuador's most significant archaeological sites, renowned for its historical significance and structural splendor. As the afternoon draws to a close, we'll arrive in Cuenca, ready to immerse ourselves in its rich cultural tapestry.

Cuenca

Your journey commences with the awe-inspiring Turi viewpoint, offering panoramic views of Cuenca. Should you desire, we can visit the renowned Eduardo Vega Gallery, showcasing the works of one of the country's celebrated ceramists.

Our enchanting exploration leads us through the picturesque "Barranco," a charming area of terraced houses nestled along the banks of the Tomebamba River. Following a leisurely stroll, we'll arrive at the illustrious Pumapungo Museum, a true gem displaying the rich cultural heritage of the city. Here, you'll witness the art of traditional craftsmanship as we tour a Panama hat factory, where exquisite "Paja toquilla" fiber hats are skillfully crafted, ranging from charming simplicity to elegant complexity.

Savor a delightful lunch in downtown Cuenca, before embarking on an enthralling journey through the city's Historical district. Saraguro & Pucara

Embark on a captivating journey starting in the enchanting city of Cuenca. As we traverse through the Andes, immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of rural villages, expansive cattle farms, and quaint farmlands. Upon reaching Saraguro, our expedition takes us to the quaint and traditional village of Guera, where we'll discover picturesque Andean landscapes: rolling hills, meandering canyons, and lush valleys. Here, we'll gain insights into local culture with a visit to a charming house museum, sampling the region's typical drink, "Uahango."

Continuing our exploration, we'll visit Pucara, a historically significant site revered for its strategic importance as both a war observatory and spiritual sanctuary. From the serene vantage point of Pucara, marvel at the sweeping vistas of the Yunguilla Valley while delving into the mysteries of this ancient Inca fortress. Following this captivating adventure, we'll return to Saraguro to explore the region's rich textile heritage at a traditional workshop, where intricate loom techniques are skillfully demonstrated. Our culinary journey culminates with a delightful lunch at Shamuico restaurant, led by Chef Samuel Ortega, a Saraguro native with a wealth of culinary experience from Spain.

Cuenca Guayaquil

Following breakfast, the tour sets off, venturing northwest towards the captivating expanse of Cajas National Park. Upon arrival after a brief drive, a plethora of activities awaits, ranging from invigorating hikes to tranquil fishing spots, immersive bird-watching experiences, and the chance to marvel at the diverse flora and fauna. A highlight of the park visit includes exploring the Interpretation Center nestled beside La Toreadora Lake, renowned as the largest and most significant within the park complex. Here, engaging displays and presentations offer deeper insights into the park's ecosystem and history.

In the afternoon, our journey continues towards the vibrant city of Guayaquil. Along the route, travelers are treated to breathtaking mountain scenery, with each turn revealing a delightful transition in vegetation as we approach the enchanting Ecuadorian coastline.
