Deep South Basecamp Experience
Tour Overview
Begin a 14-day Antarctic adventure—hike ridgelines, snowshoe through pristine landscapes, paddle icebergs, and camp under the Polar skies at Deep South Basecamp.
Set sail across the legendary Drake Passage, where salt-swept winds and rolling seas echo the experiences of the early polar explorers. Keep watch for seabirds riding the wind and fin whales slicing through the water as you cross into the white wilderness.
As the Antarctic Peninsula comes into view, the real adventure begins. If conditions allow, we continue through the rarely navigated Pendleton Strait for a possible landing at the remote southern tip of Renaud Island. Here, encounter your first Adélie penguins and take in sweeping views of ice-choked channels and towering bergs.
Over the coming days, the expedition unfolds with a mix of landings and excursions in one of the most isolated, spectacular environments on Earth. Possible destinations include Horseshoe Island, Stonington Island, and Red Rock Ridge—each offering their own unique wildlife encounters, dramatic terrain, and unforgettable moments.
Weather permitting, we navigate through The Gullet, a breathtakingly narrow passage flanked by soaring mountains, with seabirds wheeling overhead and curious seals and penguins playing in our wake. If sea ice allows, we’ll make a landing or zodiac cruise that afternoon—getting even closer to this pristine and powerful landscape.
Whether you're paddling silent fjords, trekking frozen ridges, or camping out beneath Antarctica’s endless stars, this is true adventure at the edge of the world. The only question left is—are you ready to answer the call?
