Iceland Circumnavigation | 12 days
Tour Overview
Join a 12 day small ship expedition cruise; Iceland Circumnavigation, Helicopters, Glaciers and Volcanoes.
Discover Iceland from a completely different perspective on this extraordinary expedition that circumnavigates the entire island, taking you well beyond the usual tourist routes. Explore a land shaped by fire and ice, where immense glaciers, volcanic landscapes, thundering waterfalls and remote fjords create some of the most dramatic scenery in the Arctic.
Journey into the wild Westfjords, cruise by Zodiac beneath towering cliffs and visit spectacular Dynjandi waterfall before exploring Iceland’s remote northern coastline. Cross the Arctic Circle at Grímsey, watch thousands of puffins nesting along sea cliffs and discover the geothermal landscapes around Lake Mývatn, where bubbling mud pools, lava fields and steaming vents reveal Iceland’s volcanic heart. Keep watch for whales offshore, while Arctic foxes and even reindeer may be spotted in the east.
Continue south to Vatnajökull National Park, home to Europe’s largest ice cap, and explore the incredible Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and black sands of Diamond Beach. The journey finishes amongst the volcanic landscapes and abundant birdlife of the Westman Islands before returning to Reykjavík.
What makes this expedition particularly special is the variety of ways you can experience Iceland. Explore by small expedition ship, Zodiac, on foot and by coach, with opportunities for kayaking and, conditions permitting, helicopter flightseeing over remote Icelandic landscapes. It’s an adventurous and wonderfully comprehensive way to experience Iceland – from its famous natural wonders to wild corners that few travellers ever reach.
