Journey deep into the heart of Incan culture on an unforgettable 5-day adventure across Lake Titicaca and into the vibrant high-altitude city of La Paz.

Spend two nights on the legendary Island of the Sun, set high on the sparkling waters of Lake Titicaca. Revered by the Incas as a sacred place, the island is rich in history, with ancient ruins, agricultural terraces and cobblestone pathways waiting to be explored.

Discover the island’s fascinating Inca heritage, meet local Aymara communities who continue to preserve their traditions, and enjoy the wonderfully peaceful pace of island life.

Your home for two nights is Ecolodge La Estancia, a unique eco-friendly retreat built on restored pre-Incan agricultural terraces. At over 4,000 metres above sea level, its spectacular setting offers sweeping views across Lake Titicaca to the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Real – the perfect place to slow down, breathe in the mountain air and experience the magic of the Andes.

Continue by boat to mysterious Moon Island and the atmospheric ruins of Iñak Uyu, before travelling onwards to La Paz. Here, dive into the city’s vibrant culture with colourful markets, Andean traditions, historic streets and a thrilling ride on the famous cable cars.

This is an adventure that combines culture, nature, history and unforgettable high-altitude landscapes, offering the perfect way to connect a journey to both Peru and Bolivia.

Day 1
Arrive in Puno

This morning, you’ll be collected from your hotel in Puno and travel by private vehicle towards Copacabana (approx 3.5 hours), a picturesque town set on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

On arrival, visit Copacabana’s impressive basilica, home to the revered Virgen de Copacabana, before taking some time to stroll around town.
Continue by motorboat across Lake Titicaca to the legendary Sun Island. Arriving at Huacani, enjoy an aptapi, a traditional Andean-style shared lunch, before continuing by boat to the ruins of Pilkokaina, an Inca temple overlooking the lake.

From here, hike approximately 1.5 hours to Ecolodge La Estancia, enjoying spectacular views across Lake Titicaca along the way.

Day 2
Explore Sun Island

An early start is highly recommended today – sunrise over Lake Titicaca is well worth waking up for.

Hike down through Yumani, visiting the historic Inca Steps and the Fountain of Youth before travelling by boat to the northern part of Sun Island.
Explore the Chincana ruins and Sacred Rock, important sites in Inca mythology, followed by a short 45-minute hike to Challapampa.

Return to Ecolodge La Estancia, with the option to hike back to the lodge, a journey of approximately 2.5 hours. The remainder of the afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the tranquillity and beautiful surroundings of Sun Island.

Day 3
Sun Island La Paz

After breakfast, hike down through the village of Yumani, passing the Inca gardens and steps on your way to the waterfront.

Travel by boat to nearby Moon Island, where you’ll visit the ruins of Iñak Uyu. This important Inca site was once home to women dedicated to religious and ceremonial duties.

Continue by boat to Copacabana before travelling by private vehicle to La Paz, a journey of approximately 3.5 hours. On arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel.

Day 4
La Paz City Tour & Valley of the Moon

Discover the fascinating contrasts of La Paz on a full-day exploration of the city and surrounding area.

Begin with a unique walking tour accompanied by a local lustrabotas guide – one of La Paz’s distinctive shoe-shiners – for a different perspective on everyday life in the city.

Ride the Red Line of La Paz’s famous cable car network before exploring the main cemetery and several colourful local markets. Wander through the Fish Street Market, Flower Market and Uruguay Market before continuing to Eloy Salmón Street, known for its technology shops, and the Cholitas Market, where local women shop for traditional skirts and blankets.

Continue to La Paz’s famous Witches’ Market to learn about Andean beliefs and traditions, then explore the colonial heart of the city. Highlights include San Francisco Church, Murillo Square and an outdoor replica of the ancient Tiwanaku temple.
Finally, travel to the southern part of La Paz to visit the Valley of the Moon. Here, centuries of erosion have created an extraordinary landscape of clay and sandstone formations, offering a striking contrast to the bustling city.

Day 5
Depart La Paz

Your Lake Titicaca and La Paz journey comes to an end today.

At the appropriate time, you’ll be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
