Day 1
Auckland

Upon arriving at Auckland Airport, you'll be greeted with a private transfer to your accommodation in the city. Auckland offers a mix of urban attractions and natural beauty.

Your day is at leisure, consider heading to the Sky Tower for breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its stunning harbors. Wander around Viaduct Harbour, where you can find trendy cafes and restaurants nestled along the waterfront. Don’t miss the Auckland Art Gallery, showcasing both local and international artworks.

Day 2
Auckland Waiheke Island

Today, you’ll embark on a delightful wine tour on Waiheke Island. Just a short ferry ride from Auckland, Waiheke is renowned for its picturesque vineyards and stunning coastal views. You’ll visit several wineries, tasting a variety of wines amidst lush greenery and overlooking the sparkling waters of the Hauraki Gulf. Learn about the winemaking process from local experts and perhaps pick up a bottle or two to take home. Return to Auckland in the late afternoon.

Day 3
Auckland Rotorua

You’ll pick up your rental car in the morning. Leaving Auckland behind, you’ll drive south towards Rotorua, a geothermal wonderland. Along the way, make a stop at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Step into the darkness of these limestone caves and marvel at the thousands of glowworms illuminating the underground scenery like stars in the night sky. It’s a magical experience that’s sure to leave you in awe. After exploring Waitomo, continue your journey to Rotorua, known for its bubbling mud pools and geysers.

Day 4
Rotorua

Today begins with a visit to Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, a surreal landscape of colorful hot springs and steaming volcanic vents. Walk along boardwalks through this geothermal park, where vibrant hues of orange, green, and blue paint the natural pools. Later in the evening, immerse yourself in Maori culture at a traditional village. Enjoy a feast cooked in an earth oven, known as a hangi, and witness powerful performances of song and dance that tell the stories of the Maori people. It’s an evening filled with history, culture, and delicious food.

Rotorua

Today is yours to explore Rotorua at your leisure.Unwind at the Polynesian Spa, soaking in therapeutic mineral pools overlooking Lake Rotorua. For nature lovers, take a serene walk through the Redwoods Forest, where towering Californian redwoods provide shade and tranquility amidst native ferns and birdlife.

Day 6
Rotorua Wellington

Bid farewell to Rotorua as you drop off your rental car at the airport and board a short flight to Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand.

Wellington is known for its vibrant arts scene, bustling waterfront, and thriving culinary culture. Spend the afternoon exploring the city's waterfront promenade, visit Te Papa Tongarewa, the national museum, where interactive exhibits delve into New Zealand’s natural history and Maori culture. Lord of the Rings fans may wish to visit the Weta Workshop.

Day 7
Wellington

Today, take your time to discover more of Wellington’s charms at your own pace. Stroll through Cuba Street, a colorful and eclectic neighborhood lined with boutique shops, cafes, and street art. Visit Zealandia, an eco-sanctuary just minutes from the city center, where you can spot native birds and reptiles in their natural habitat. For panoramic views of Wellington, ride the historic Cable Car to the Botanic Garden, where you can wander through themed gardens and enjoy the serenity of nature amidst the cityscape.

Day 8
Wellington Christchurch

Fly from Wellington to Christchurch, the largest city in the South Island. Christchurch is known for its English heritage and expansive parks and gardens. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Explore the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, where you can stroll along tree-lined pathways and relax by tranquil water features. Visit the Canterbury Museum to learn about the region’s natural and cultural history, or take a leisurely punting tour on the Avon River, gliding past weeping willows and charming bridges.

Day 9
Christchurch - TranzAlpine Train Hokitika

Today, embark on one of New Zealand’s most scenic train journeys aboard the TranzAlpine train. Travel from Christchurch to Greymouth, traversing the majestic Southern Alps and winding through deep gorges and lush beech forests.

At Greymouth, pick up your rental car and drive to Hokitika on the rugged West Coast. Hokitika is known for its artistic community, specializing in jade carving. Explore local galleries and shops, where you can admire intricate carvings and perhaps find a unique piece to take home.

Franz Josef Queenstown

Depart Franz Josef and drive south to Queenstown, stopping in Wanaka along the way, and perhaps even the a walk to the Blue Pools if you wish.

Wanaka is renowned for its crystal-clear lake and stunning mountain backdrop, including the famous lone willow tree that stands sentinel in the water. Take a leisurely walk along the lakeside. Continue your journey to Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand, where you’ll find a range of adrenaline-pumping activities and breathtaking scenery.

Day 13
Queenstown Milford Sound

Embark on a full-day excursion to Milford Sound, often described as the eighth wonder of the world. Cruise through the fiord's deep waters, flanked by sheer cliffs and cascading waterfalls that tumble into the sea. Keep an eye out for seals, dolphins, and native birdlife that inhabit this pristine wilderness. Return to Queenstown in the evening.
