Day 1-2
Mfuwe Airport South Luangwa National Park

Upon arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (Lusaka), you’ll be met after immigration by a local representative who will assist with your bags and escort you to your scheduled Proflight domestic flight to Mfuwe. On arrival, your safari guide will greet you and transfer you to Time + Tide Luwi, located deep in the remote heart of South Luangwa National Park.

The journey to camp takes approximately 2.5 hours, but you’ll feel the adventure begin as you pass through rural villages and spot your first wildlife en route.

Time + Tide Luwi is set beside a seasonal riverbed and surrounded by ancient mahogany groves. It’s wonderfully isolated, offering a true sense of wilderness. Here, you’ll settle into your safari tent and enjoy the tranquil setting, with hippos grunting in the nearby lagoon and wildlife frequently wandering across the floodplain in front of camp.

Activities:
Walking safaris led by expert guides and armed scouts — the South Luangwa is considered the birthplace of the walking safari. Spot wildlife up close, learn about tracks, insects, medicinal plants, and the rhythm of the bush.
Afternoon and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, with the chance to encounter leopards, lions, hyenas, elephants, and nocturnal creatures like civets and genets.
Stargazing under the vast African sky, where the Milky Way and constellations are brilliantly clear.

Day 3-4
Time + Tide Luwi Time + Tide Nsolo (by foot or vehicle)

After a hearty breakfast, your next adventure begins: a walking safari to your next camp. As your luggage is transferred by vehicle, you’ll journey through the bush on foot (or opt for a game drive), guided by experienced trackers. This immersive experience allows you to connect with nature in a deeply personal way—every track, scent, and sound tells a story.

Arriving at Time + Tide Nsolo, one of Zambia’s most historic camps, you’ll find an intimate riverside retreat with elevated chalets overlooking a waterhole frequented by wildlife. The camp’s barefoot luxury vibe makes it ideal for peaceful reflection between activities.

Optional: Return to the Wild Sleepout
For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, opt to spend one of these nights sleeping out under the stars on a remote dry riverbed. With only a bedroll, mosquito net, and a crackling fire, you’ll feel the thrill of the original safari pioneers.

Activities:
Walking safaris with skilled guides and scouts, perfect for observing smaller wildlife, birds, and the intricate ecosystem of the bush.
Day and night game drives to track predators and larger mammals, with spotlight safaris revealing nocturnal life.
Birdwatching — South Luangwa is a birder’s paradise, home to colorful species such as carmine bee-eaters, kingfishers, and lilac-breasted rollers.
Return to the Wild Sleepout (optional), offering an unforgettable night under the stars.
Stargazing and campfire evenings with storytelling from your guides.

Day 5-7
South Luangwa Lower Zambezi

This morning, return to Mfuwe Airport for your flight to Royal Airstrip, gateway to the Lower Zambezi National Park. The flight may route via Lusaka. Upon arrival, your guide will transfer you to Time + Tide Chongwe Camp, set along the tranquil banks where the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers meet.

With its sweeping river views, open-air bathrooms, and handcrafted interiors, Chongwe Camp is the perfect blend of comfort and nature. Over the next three days, enjoy a diverse mix of land and water-based safaris in one of Africa’s most scenic and biodiverse regions.

Activities:
Day and night game drives — Explore the park’s varied habitats by 4x4 vehicle. By day, look out for large herds of elephants, buffalo, lions, and antelope, while the night drives reveal the secret lives of leopards, hyenas, civets, and other nocturnal creatures under the beam of a spotlight.
Guided walking safaris through the Lower Zambezi Valley — Step into the wild on foot with an expert guide and armed scout. These walks allow you to observe smaller details often missed on game drives, such as tracks, insects, medicinal plants, and birdlife, while also heightening the thrill of encountering larger animals at ground level.
Canoe safaris along the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers — Drift silently past pods of hippos, crocodiles basking on the banks, and elephants crossing the water. The calm pace of paddling offers a unique perspective and the chance to appreciate the riverine ecosystem up close.
Tiger fishing (catch and release) — Try your hand at catching the feisty tiger fish, known for its power and striking, toothy grin. This exhilarating sport is practiced on a catch-and-release basis, making it a sustainable way to engage with the river.
Boat cruises with sundowners or morning coffee on the river — Cruise the Zambezi at sunrise as mist lifts off the water or at sunset with a drink in hand. Both are magical times for wildlife viewing and photography, with golden light reflecting off the water and animals coming to drink at the river’s edge.
Wildlife hide for photography and nocturnal animal viewing — Spend time in a well-positioned hide overlooking a popular watering area. Perfect for photographers, the hide offers up-close encounters with elephants, antelope, and birdlife during the day, while at night it becomes a window into the secretive world of nocturnal species.

Day 8
Fly back to Lusaka

After a final morning activity or leisurely breakfast, you'll be transferred back to Royal Airstrip for your flight to Lusaka. Upon arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, a representative will assist with your luggage and check-in for your international departure or onward travel.
