Nestled at the edge of a vibrant, emerald forest and perched above clear turquoise waters dotted with untouched coral reefs, surrounded by soft sandy beaches, the Manta Resort on Pemba Island is a cherished haven of timeless tranquility.
Offering various lodging choices, from the opulent Seafront Villas to the serene Superior or Standard Garden Rooms, guests can also opt for the one-of-a-kind Underwater Room, anchored to the seabed and frequented by tropical fish and local marine life.
The landing deck at sea level features a lounge area and bathroom. A ladder leads up to the roof, which has a lounging area perfect for sunbathing during the day and stargazing at night. Under the starlit sky, you can marvel at the extraordinary clarity of the stars, planets, and the Milky Way, all visible without any light pollution. Sleep under the stars to the gentle murmuring of the sea.
Downstairs, you'll experience the magical feeling of lying on a soft double bed surrounded by glass panes offering nearly 360-degree views. Watch the shoals of reef fish and the occasional rare visitor through your windows. Some fish have even taken up residence around the room, seeking protection from predators.
At night, underwater spotlights beneath each window attract shyer and more unusual creatures, such as squid. Coral is already establishing itself on the anchoring lines and around the underwater structure, and you might even see octopuses and Spanish dancers attaching themselves to the glass panes. The reef inhabitants can't resist the attraction, making for exciting watching and a truly unique experience!
Known for its blend of relaxed elegance and contemporary luxury, the resort is managed by attentive staff and features a Seaview Restaurant, a guest lounge, a swimming pool, and a beach bar. The indulgent Kipepeo Spa is also a highlight.
The resort offers an abundance of island experiences, including spice farm and rainforest tours, lighthouse hikes, coral sandbank visits, sunset cruises, snorkeling trips, sea kayaking, and deep-sea fishing expeditions.

Pemba has remained isolated from the mainland and Zanzibar for decades, resulting in an untouched and pristine island of remarkable beauty. The landscape is a mosaic of forests, swamps, mangroves, hidden beaches, and lagoons, dotted with the ruins of mosques and tombs, mostly reclaimed by the forest. These sites date back to the 17th century when Pemba was seized by the Sultan of Muscat (Oman), who established his court in Zanzibar and ruled Muscat from there. Today, Pemba is still the world’s major clove producer, supplying around 70% of all cloves, while also embracing its traditional role as an Island Paradise with small-scale inter-island trade.
You will be met on arrival and transferred to Manta Resort.
It takes about 1.5 hours to drive from the airport to the resort located on the northern tip of Pemba. The road can be bumpy (we call it the Pemba massage), but this adds to the charm and adventure of the journey. Along the way, you'll also have the opportunity to see much of Pemba Island, making the trip an interesting and enjoyable experience.

Day 2-3
Manta Resort
Enjoy your days at leisure. Your stay includes use of snorklling equipment and kayaks for you to explore the beautiful surroundings.
During your stay, you may choose to add on a stay in the one-of-a-kind Underwater room.
Imagine yourself enclosed in a turquoise blue bubble, watching shoals of reef fish swimming lazily by—sometimes in three or four layers of different species above the reef floor. This heart-stopping experience awaits you in the underwater room. The floating structure, engineered in Sweden, features three levels. The above-water levels are clad in local hardwood, each offering a unique experience.
Your journey begins with boarding a traditionally crafted wooden boat that will take you to the underwater room. This room is situated about 250 meters from the shore, a short 2-minute boat ride over the crystal-clear waters of the Manta house reef. Upon arrival, your service fundi and boat captain will introduce you to the features of your private floating island. Once you've been acquainted with your new surroundings, we'll leave you to enjoy them. A light tropical lunch with cold drinks will be ready for you to enjoy at your leisure. A kayak, snorkel, and fins will be provided for your use. The underwater room is located in an area we call the blue hole, known for its fantastic coral heads and abundant marine life.
After enjoying sundowners on your preferred deck, dinner will be served at a pre-arranged time decided by you and your fundi. Following dinner, you will have the evening to yourselves. Breakfast will also be served at a time of your choosing.
