Enchanting Sabi Sands

On arrival at Skukuza Airport you will be met and transferred to the lodge in the Sabi Sands.

The lodge recently reopened after an extensive renovation, introducing a new sense of brightness and space. Wooden walkways lead off to a spa, gym and pool and back to the main lodge, where the deck’s connected water features give the impression of floating on the river. Whether you enjoy your time together socially or quietly, the running theme here is simple and natural luxury living.

Each light and spacious room has a canopied king-sized bed, dressing table, minibar, air conditioning, ceiling fan and a full en-suite with a range of deluxe amenities – and because views of the river and bush cannot be wasted, we built a private deck beyond its fold-back glass door.

You can see all of Africa’s iconic species here, including all of the Big Five, along with a supporting cast of no less intriguing 137 mammal species and over 450 varieties of bird – while having minimal encounters with other people. You will spend the following two days on safari at this unique lodge. Awakening all our senses, enjoying the smells and sounds of the bush, tasting the unique food, looking for the elusive Leopard and truly enjoying the unique experience of the African Bush.

Being entirely private, Lion Sands offers you a very personal safari experience. With only six guests to a game viewer and the exclusive traversing across the length and breadth of the reserve, you’ll have minimal encounters with other people. While you are out exploring, you’ll also by no means be roughing it. Your vehicle is kitted out with cushioned bucket seats, waterproof device holders, blankets and ponchos.

Rest assured, the treehouses are meticulously designed and securely built above the ground, ensuring a safe and comfortable distance from any roaming wildlife. Prior to bidding you farewell for the evening, your dedicated ranger will provide a comprehensive orientation, leaving you equipped with the necessary knowledge. Throughout the night, your ranger will be just a radio call away, ready to assist, until the time comes for your departure after a glorious sunrise and a rejuvenating cup of coffee.

Following breakfast, you will be transferred to Shalati, Train on the Bridge.

Our arrival lounge, reception and dining areas, along with two of our three swimming pools are found adjacent to the Selati Bridge, overlooking the majestic Sabie River. The river flows all year-round drawing animals and birds that come to quench their thirst on a daily basis.
