Viva Expeditions is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Sales Manager to help us expand our premium adventure travel business throughout Latin America, Africa, Antarctica, the Arctic & New Zealand.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a real impact in the travel industry. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience within the travel industry, excellent contacts within retail travel agencies, and exceptional people skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth and market share in the travel industry.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by conducting market research and analysing industry trends.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing partners and identify opportunities to enhance those relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, and operations teams to execute on business development initiatives.
  • Negotiate and close partnerships and contracts that support business growth and revenue targets.
  • Represent the company at industry and consumer events and conferences to promote brand awareness and build new relationships.
  • Develop and manage budgets for business development initiatives and ensure that expenses are within budget constraints.
  • Provide regular reports on business development activities and outcomes to senior management.

 

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing in the travel industry.
  • A proven sales track record.
  • Excellent contacts with retail travel agencies and/or travel experience & destination knowledge of South America / Africa / Polar destinations.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and expanding market share in the travel industry.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Excellent people skills, including the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage budgets and targets & to analyse data effectively.
  • Strong sense of humour, able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong under pressure and used to tight deadlines.
  • Creativity and ability to think outside the box
  • Excellent IT skills demonstrating confidence in office packages.
  • New Zealand citizenship or a visa that allows full-time employment within New Zealand.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

As a Destination Specialist at Viva Expeditions, you will embark on a thrilling journey where your key responsibilities include:

  • Tailored Travel Planning: Craft personalized travel itineraries to showcase the breathtaking beauty of Latin America / Polar regions, ensuring unforgettable experiences for our clients.
  • Portfolio Growth: Collaborate closely with our product team to expand our portfolio and drive sales, giving clients even more opportunities to explore.
  • Client Engagement: Communicate passionately with clients and travel agents, sharing your extensive travel and destination knowledge to create tailored travel experiences.
  • Efficient Bookings: Utilize advanced reservations and flight systems software to provide quotes and secure bookings.
  • Local Coordination: Maintain effective communication with ground operators, gathering vital information, preparing quotes, and making bookings to ensure seamless journeys.
  • File Management: Keep client files organized and up-to-date, ensuring correct bookings, timely payments, document dispatch, and adherence to all file requirements.
  • Adaptability: Stay agile by managing changes to client itineraries and updating files accordingly.
  • Continuous Learning: Invest in self-development to stay updated on product offerings and emerging destination information.
