Serra Verde Express

In 1997, Serra Verde Express was born, created to manage passenger transport on the centennial railroad that connects Curitiba to Paranaguá, in the state of Paraná. Until then, the service was managed by the Federal Government, through Rede Ferroviária Federal S.A. (RFFSA).

A little more than eight years later, the route that connects Curitiba to the coast of the state was considered the second main tourist attraction in Paraná, behind only the city of Foz do Iguaçu. Thus, Serra Verde Express continued to fulfill its purpose of bringing more life to the trails that run through Serra do Mar. Over time, more achievements emerged along the way.

At the beginning of 2007, the company was able to renew the concession for another 10 years from the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT). The possibility of continuing to carry out serious and committed work with tourism was an immense joy for businessmen Adonai Aires de Arruda, CEO of Serra Verde Express, and for his son, Adonai Aires de Arruda Filho, director of the company. Both have invested a lot of time and dedication to achieve this goal.

The know-how acquired with the operation of the trains in the Paranaguá-Curitiba system instigated Serra Verde Express to embrace a new venture in the railway sector: the launch of the first luxury train in the country, the Great Brazil Express, in 2008.

To ensure the success of this project, the entrepreneurs went to Belgium, Europe, to establish a partnership with Transnico International, one of the most renowned international tourism agencies, specializing in rail tours and incentive trips.

The luxury train has three themed cars: Copacabana, Foz do Iguaçu and Curitiba. The Luxury Victorines have become one of the great attractions of the composition and continue to this day as the stars of the rails. Accompanied, of course, by other wagons that have personalized decorations and exclusive on-board service.
