I think my love for travel stems from my multicultural roots and the adventurous spirit of my parents - my dad hails from the vibrant landscapes of Peru, while my mom comes from the warm shores of the Philippines! Their combined love for travel led us to live in different countries - India, Germany, Bolivia, Peru and then back to the Philippines – exposing us to different cultures at an early age.
As I grew older, I felt the pull to return to Peru and dive deeper into my roots. Unpopular opinion, there is so much more to Peru than Machu Picchu! It is a vibrant tapestry of diverse ecosystems- deserts, jungles, mountains, marine life, rich culture and of course, we must not forget, its world-renowned cuisine (my absolute favourite food!)
It also happens to be the perfect gateway to other neighbouring South American countries of which I’ve been lucky enough to experience like beautiful Colombia, the islands of the Galápagos in Ecuador, charming Argentina and the Patagonian outback, the bustling energy of Chile, and the lush landscapes and beaches of Costa Rica.
It’s difficult to pinpoint my favourite destination, as there are so many memorable places to choose from. However, being a sunny, island girl, I would have to say that the Galápagos Islands holds a special place in my heart.
I think the most fulfilling part of my travel experience is that I have passed down my love for travel to my daughter. We’ve been able to create wonderful memories together as we travelled, not only within South America, but to other countries and continents – our favourite being a trip to South Africa on safari - such a stunning experience! Our latest adventure has been moving to New Zealand along with my partner and so far, we are loving it and can’t wait to explore more of this amazing country!
