Start your journey travelling to Copacabana to visit the famous Virgen Morena and take the boat to Isla del Sol. Discover the highlights of La Paz before flying to Uyuni to begin your drive across the world’s largest salt lake, the Salar de Uyuni, one of South America’s greatest experiences. Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Puno Copacabana - Island of the Sun

Travel from Puno to Copacabana (3 ½ hours). Visit the famous Virgen Morena and its church, have a stroll of town and take the boat to the Island of the Sun (1 hour), land in Huacani port, have a typical lunch “Aptapi”. Hike for about 45 min to overnight in Ecolodge La Estancia. Includes Lunch (typical aptapi) and dinner

Day 2
Island of the Sun La Paz

DON’T MISS A GREAT SUNRISE! Boat to La Chincana (1 hour), to see this great Inca ruins, continue in boat to the Moon Island, visit the Iñak Uyu ruins (1 ½ hours), boat to Copacabana (1 hours). Transportation to La Paz (3 ½ hours). Transportation to La Paz (3 ½ hours).

Day 3
La Paz

Take a four hours city tour through La Paz, elected as one of the 7 wonder cities in the world. It is in a valley at the foothills of the Andes Range, situated at 3,632m / 11942 ft. above sea level. The tour goes through the street markets rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft items, followed by a visit to the colonial section of the city, San Francisco Church, Gold Museum, Murillo Square also visit to the viewpoint 'Mirador de Killi Killi'; and the outdoor replica of Tiwanaku temple. Then descending to the more modern, southern part of La Paz to reach and visit the Valley of the Moon, where a clay mountain has been impressively shaped by erosion. Afternoon at leisure

Day 4
La Paz Uyuni Salt Flats

Morning flight from La Paz to Uyuni (08.15 – 09.15 m), transfer to your hotel nearby in Colchani in the shores of the Uyuni salt flats. Visit the village and its surroundings to see locals producing salt, enter this natural wonder with over 10.000 km2 at 3.692 m of salt is something really special. Trip through the salt flats crossing to Isla Incahuasi (2 hours), a special habitat of giant cactus and volcanic rocks. Then north to see Pucara de Ayque at the foothills of the Tunupa volcano. Trip back to Colchani (2 hours). Enjoy a nice sunset and overnight in a unique salt hotel.

Day 5
Colchani - Uyuni Alota - Villamar

Trip south crossing the town of Uyuni, leaving it to visit the cemetery of old trains and then enter the southern highlands crossing the villages of San Cristobal mine, Culpina K and enter the rich and high Andean valley of Alota (4 hours), continue south with great stone formations done by the erosion, to finally reach Villamar (1 hour).

Day 6
Villamar - Reserve Eduardo Abaroa (REA) Hito Cajón (boarder with Chile)

Long day! Trip to REA through Polkes and visiting: Laguna Colourada (4,278m – 2 hours), declared a RAMSAR site due to the nesting of over 30,000 Andean flamingos, geysers “Sol de Mañana”, Chalviri lagoon and its hot springs of Polques. Continue the high deserts of Pampas de Dali until “Laguna Verde” (3 hours), a beautiful green lagoon at the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain, continue until de Bolivian boarder Hito Cajón.
Includes picnic lunch.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
• To reach the Ecolodge La Estancia will have a smooth walk up of an hour and a half, and to leave it there is walk down of half of an hour.
• Museums in La Paz close on Saturdays and Sundays in the afternoon, also all day on Mondays and holidays.
• Winter Season (June, July August): water may freeze in the pipes and could take several minutes to heat up
• Rainy season: (November to April) Roads might be in bad shape. Uyuni Salt flats are flooded. Access to Pucara de Ayque or Incahuasi might be difficult or impossible. Program might have to be changed due to these reasons.
• As roads in Uyuni Region are not paved, we will use 4x4 cars, each one with a maximum of 4 passengers. To avoid high costs, guide and / or Tour Conductor will go in the back part of the cars if it will be necessary

Day 1
Hito Cajón (boarder with Chile) Reserve Eduardo Abaroa (REA) - Villamar

Pick up in the Bolivian border of Hito Cajon to enter the REA Reserve, visiting; Green lagoon in the foothills of Licancabur Mountain, the high desert in Pampas de Dali, Chalviri lagoon and the hot springs of Polques and geysers Sol de Mañana. Then Red lagoon, declared a RAMSAR site due to the nesting of over 30,000 Andean flamingos (3 hours), to finally reach Villamar (2 hours) through Polkes.

Day 2
Villamar Uyuni Salt flats

Morning trip north through nice areas of stone formations done by the erosion to Alota (1 hour) and then north passing the villages of San Agustin and San Juan, continue then through the highlands to enter Uyuni salt flats, this natural wonder with over 10.000 km2 at 3.692 m of salt in Chuvica, (3 hours), cross it north to visit Isla Incahuasi, a special habitat of giant cactus and volcanic rocks. Continue east to village of Colchani (2 hours), where the locals produce salt in the shores of the salt flats.

Day 3
Uyuni La Paz

Morning flight from Uyuni to La Paz with both transfers. Trip to Tiwanaku (72 km) passing the highlands, one of the oldest American cultures, considered the cradle of the American man. Visit the temple of Kalasasaya, Gate of the Sun, monoliths Ponce and Fraile, Akapana pyramid and Semiunderground temple, as well as the local museums. Return to La Paz. Afternoon free. Note: Optional tours available

Hike for about 45 min to overnight in Ecolodge La Estancia.
