Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Auckland Buenos Aires

This is an escorted group tour.

Today we depart from Auckland with Air New Zealand on a direct flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina’s elegant, historic and cosmopolitan capital. On arrival, we will be travel with our local guide to the Sofitel, a five-star hotel in the heart of Recoleta.

This evening we will have a welcome reception in the Sofitel's private bar, with tapas finger food, wine and beer included.

Day 2
Buenos Aires: City Tour with Gourmet Lunch

Our expert, friendly guide will take you on and off the beaten track as you explore this vibrant & fascinating city. Of course, you will have a private bus at your disposal, but we recommend getting out and walking around some of the neighbourhoods. The tour will take in the main highlights, but our guide will help you to really get under the skin of Buenos Aires.

We then stop for lunch at a secret spot where we will have a gourmet Argentine barbecue cooked for us by Fernando Mayoral in his private show kitchen. Fernando's Cuisine is a mix of his French training with Michelin starred chef Michel Bras, his Asian and Latin American influence combined with his Argentine heritage. After lunch, we return to the hotel. Tonight is left free.

Day 3
San Antonio de Areco: Ranch day at Estancia El Ombu

On this tour you will enjoy an authentic day in the countryside at an exclusive estancia in San Antonio de Areco. At the start of the tour you will travel 1.5 hours to San Antonio de Areco across the endless pampas. On arrival at San Antonio de Areco you can take a short walking tour of this charming gaucho town, which includes a walk around the historical plaza. Following that you head out to the exclusive ‘El Ombu de Areco’ Estancia where you can take a short horse ride or go for a ride in a sulky carriage perhaps. There is a typical welcome of cold cuts, cheese and beverages, and for lunch, you will enjoy a typical Argentine country style asado prepared using only the finest quality meats. Dessert is accompanied by a folklore show, which is followed by a demonstration of gaucho skills. Late in the afternoon, we return to Buenos Aires. Tonight is left free.

Day 4
Tigre: Tigre Delta with lunch aboard the Chata Afrodita

This is an enjoyable tour of the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires and the Tigre delta. The delta is formed by thousands of islands, many of which are kept in their original state, while others are inhabited or built with weekend houses. A delta that is kept alive not only by the movement of its people and its nature but by the constant formation of islands by silt brought down from the jungles of South America. It is a maze of rivers and streams that invite exploration.

Our guide will pick us up in the morning to take us north to the city of Tigre, where the Parana River turns into a delta and the scattered islands can only be accessed by water. We explore the delta aboard the "Chata Afrodita", an old flat bottomed island boat built in the middle of the last century for the transportation of barrels for a distillery. After a decade it was acquired by a family for the transfer of timber from the Paraná Delta to the fruit port. Its flat bottom is ideal for navigating the shallow rivers and streams, and in April 2013 it was restored and refurbished completely for private use. The boat is 17 metres long and has plenty of space to enjoy lunch on the water.

In the evening we will enjoy dinner at The Argentine Experience - The Argentine Experience offers a unique dining experience which cleverly blends exquisite food and wine, local culture and social integration. Sitting around two banquet tables, led by two charismatic guides, you will learn the art of making traditional empanadas and will have the opportunity to get creative in Argentina’s first and only novelty empanada competition. Alongside your creations, enjoy grilled provoleta cheese with sliced chorizo sausage, warm bread and homemade chimichurri. Next enjoy what some are boldly claiming to be one of the best steaks in Argentina, with a unique 24-hour preparation, cooked to order and accompanied with velvety mashed potatoes and oven roasted. For dessert, make your own alfajores and learn about the history and etiquette of maté, Argentina’s national pastime. The meal is paired with endless excellent wines from limited boutique lines. The guides throughout the evening will answer questions on Argentine cuisine and culture.

Day 5
Buenos Aires Mendoza

After a free morning to rest or explore a little more, we check out of our hotel in Buenos Aires.

Mendoza, in a region of foothills and high plains, is the heart of Argentina's wine country, famed for Malbecs and other red wines. The city has wide, leafy avenues, atmospheric plazas and cosmopolitan cafes. The city has five central plazas, the four smaller plazas surrounding the main Plaza Independencia.

Day 6
Mendoza Warm Up Day!!! Local Rugby Experience

Today we will enjoy a visit a local rugby club where we will share a BBQ lunch with some of the local rugby club members plus we will be joined an ex-Puma (details of this day are still being finalised). At the end of the visit, we will have a charity auction where we will auction off some great items in support of charity .

Day 7

Today is game day!!!

The day you have been waiting for, can you feel the nerves? Will the All Blacks destroy the Puma’s sending them whimpering with their tails between their legs.
