The Chalalán Ecolodge is located in the heart of the Madidi National Park which is characterised by its exceptional biological wealth and diverse ecosystems.  The lodge stands on the shore of the magnificent Chalalán Lagoon and combines elegance and comfort while using local materials to respect the traditional building styles of our community, San José de Uchupiamonas.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1
La Paz Madidi National Park

Transfer to the airport for taking flight to Rurrenabaque crossing the Royal Range Mountains (1 hour). On arrival, meeting at the airport for starting a spectacular visit with amazing Amazon sceneries and different animals from this region. Trip to Chalalan by boat through Beni and Tuichi Rivers until Chalalan (5-6 hours). Walk through this rich forest to the lodge (30 minutes). In the afternoon, take a stroll through a thematic trail and return to the lodge by canoe. By night, short walk around to look at the wild night life: Insects, spiders, amphibians, reptiles and nocturnal birds.

Madidi National Park is one of the largest and with the richest variety of flora and fauna in Bolivia, it has 1,895,750 Ha (4,684,500 Acres), spanning from the Andes Royal Range to the Amazon basin, with an unequaled biodiversity. It has many and diverse habitats, from mountain forest, to lowland savannas and tropical forest.

Day 2
Tapacare trail (or simmilar) Mirador (viewpoint)

Trek through Tapacare trail or other simmilar (3 – 4 hours) through the tropical rainforest also watching birds and mammals. Return to the lodge. In the afternoon, after a short rest, visit “El Mirador” (Viewpoint) to see the beautiful landscape of Chalalan Lake and Madidi National Park huge tropical primary jungle. By night, walk around to see the nocturnal wildlife.

Day 3
Eslabon river (Full day) Traditional night

Trek though Eslabon river (6 hours) in the deep areas of the Amazon virgin forest with choices to see animals such as: spider monkee, wild pigs and several bird spices; return to Chalalan ecolodge by the same trail. Later, canoe ride, this is a special activity to see amphibians, nocturnal birds and alligators which can be easily seen because of their glowing eyes.

-On arrival to the Ecolodge, swimming time in the Lake

Overnight: Chalalan Ecolodge

Day 4
Madidi National Park La Paz

Walk to Tuichi river shore to take the boat back to Rurrenabaque (3 hours boat ride), be alert during the boat trip to see more animals. On arrival transfer to airport for taking flight back to the city of La Paz.
