Day 1

Upon arrival you will be met & transferred to Leon. An unpretentious city with stunning colonial streetscapes, Leon is among Nicaragua's most culturally rich communities. Once the site of political uprisings, today's Leon has a vibrant artist feel. Opportunities for exploring include Leon's street art and murals, the faded beauty of centuries-old architecture, awe-inspiring cathedrals, art galleries, a prison-turned-museum, and several ancient churches. The city also boasts a cosmopolitan edge with a generous mix of restaurants and an active nightlife.

Day 2

Today a knowledgeable guide introduces you to Nicaraguan culture and customs as you explore historic Leon. You'll visit the Basillica Catedral de la Asuncion, Central America's largest church, where you can investigate the crypts and climb the stairs to the rooftop for superb views of the city and volcanoes nearby. As you stroll to your destinations, you will see Leon's street murals. At the Museum of the Revolution, a real Sandinista "guerrillero" will explain the tumultuous history of Nicaragua's revolution. Leon has endless options and places to visit, so please let your guide know if there are any specific sights you'd like to see.

Day 3
Leon Matagalpa

On the outskirt of Leon, the impressive Maribios volcanic chain rises. A quick drive will take you to the small and very traditional village of San Jacinto, located right at the base of the volcanoes.
Matagalpa is set in a lush highland area and known for its coffee, cattle, dairy products, vegetables and flowers. An important commercial hub, the expanding town of Matagalpa enjoys spring-like temperatures year-round. Its established restaurants, hipster cafes, bars, museums, and picturesque churches appeal to locals, vacationers, and business travellers alike.

Day 4

Discover the complexity and care that it takes to harvest and process coffee. Walk around with local Nicaraguans and pick the beans, and learn about the peeling, drying and roasting processes. Finish with a tasting of some of the world's finest gourmet coffees.

Day 5
Matagalpa Granada

After breakfast you will be transferred to Granada.

Day 6

No doubt the best way of finding out Granada's city secrets is by taking a walk lead by a "Granadino" local guide. After a few instructions and an introduction to the morning plan, climb to the top of La Merced church for great views of the central plaza, and La Calzada street that stretches all the way to the lake Nicaragua. Then head to the so-called commercial area, and watch behind the scenes of the daily busy market, visit the handmade shoe factory, the piñatas place, get the chance to learn how to make a hammock at a small Granada workshop, options are endless and depending on your interests you may visit different attractions.
Just off Granada's shores sit a smattering of small islands that were formed by a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. "Las Isletas", as they are called by the locals, vary in size and purpose: Some are privately owned while others welcome visitors with restaurants, cafes, hotels, shops and other attractions.

Day 7
Granada Ometepe

After breakfast you will be transferred to the San Jorge Port and have a 60-minute boat ride to Moyogalpa Port in Ometepe, where you will have free time.
Located on Lake Nicaragua, Ometepe Island comprises two volcanoes connected by a thin strip of land. Conceptión, the larger of two, is active, evident by the smoke rising from its cone. Visitors head to Ometepe to explore pristine jungle forests, hike a volcano, set out for picturesque waterfalls, tour archaeological sites of the island's more than two thousand pre-Colombian petrogyphs and artifacts, and discover remote coves and beaches.

Day 8

After a quick talk, you will be taken in a 20 min drive to west side of the Island to el Mirador del Diablo (Devil's View Point) a moderate walk to the top that will show you superb views of the lake and to both the Conceptión and Maderas Volcano, head to the Charco Verde reserve where it is common to find large families of howler monkeys and birds such as neotropical cormorants and egrets. Finish the walk and drive to Ojo de Agua for a refreshing swim before heading back to the hotel.

Day 9
Ometepe San Juan del Sur

Located on the southern Pacific coast of Nicaragua, San Juan del Sur is a laid back beach town offering some of Central America's best waves. Surfers from around the globe travel here for big swells and beautiful stretches of sand. San Juan's large, horseshoe-shaped bay rests between two volcanic bluffs and is dotted with fishing boats, sail boats, and private yachts. It's also an access point for picturesque beaches to the north and south. San Juan has many restaurants and a thriving nightlife with clubs, bars, live music and DJs. Surfing is the area's biggest draw, but visitors also head here to fish and watch sea turtles nest in season.
