Surrounded by rugged hills, a trio of towering volcanoes and a handful of small villages, it's easy to wax poetic about Lake Atitlán. Located in the Guatemalan highlands, the lake was formed more than 80,000 years ago during a violent volcanic eruption.

You will be met at your hotel by our boat driver and adventure guide for a short transfer to the Cerro de Oro area, where our paddle adventure starts. Kayaking usually takes between 1-2 hours but can be adjusted according to your wishes. Once we reach the Cerro de Oro dock, we begin a hike through the village and up the "Hill of God". Lunch is in the town of Santiago, and after our meal we will enjoy a walking tour, visiting the vegetable market, main square and church, the famous saint of San Simon and other places of interest.

Day 3
Lake Atitlán

You will be met at your hotel by your private guide and transfer by boat to Santa Cruz la Laguna, a small Kakchiquel village surrounded by jagged mountains, accessible only on foot or by boat. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by a representative from Amigos de Santa Cruz; a non-profit organisation working together with locals to improve their lives through support for better education, better health, a clean environment and sustainable economic development. You can also enjoy a walking tour around the village while visiting Amigos programs. Your tour concludes with a typical Guatemalan meal at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel.

Day 4
Lake Atitlán Antigua

You will be met at your hotel & driven to Chichicastenango. Upon arrival your guide will take you to explore this famous market both the local areas of the fruit & vegetables & everyday items as well as craft area where you can find an endless variety of beautiful textiles, wooden & ceramic crafts. Lunch is provided. When you are ready you will be driven to Antigua.
Founded in sixteenth century, Antigua is a cosmopolitan destination with a rich colonial past. Its cobblestone streets are lined with pretty, pastel-hued homes, luxurious boutique hotels, and an exceptional selection of smart restaurants and shops. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, the city of 35,000 people sits in a valley between coffee farms, indigenous villages, and three imposing volcanoes. At the heart of town is the parque central, a European-style plaza busy with shoe-shiners, ice cream vendors, families, and tourists. During its architectural peak, Antigua was home to dozens of colonial monuments, churches, and monasteries, but an earthquake in 1773 damaged or reduced most to rubble. In the centuries thereafter, efforts were made to rebuild and restore, and the city today is filled with melancholic but gorgeous relics and ruins.

Day 5

You will be picked up at your hotel & transferred to the small town of San Mateo Milpas Altas just outside of Antigua. After a brief introduction, you will gear up for your valley bike experiences. This half day excursions takes place in the scenic Antigua valley, riding on back roads and trails through local villages farms and fields.
After a bike tour you will be transferred to small town of San Miguel Escobar, where you will be met by a local guide from De La Gente (DLG): a charity that supports small independent coffee producers and promotes environmentally responsible agriculture in Guatemala. After a coffee tour guests have a simple, traditional meal in a local home before transferring back to Antigua.

Day 6

The Pacaya Volcano hike with picnic starts with a morning transfer to the foothills of the active Pacaya volcano.
