Weddell Sea & Falkland Islands - Fly/Sail
This unique Antarctica cruise ventures into the Weddell Sea, situated on the eastern side of the Antarctic Peninsula. The region is home to colossal tabular icebergs, several historic sites and massive penguin rookeries.
Flying in from Punta Arenas in Chile across the formidable Drake Passage to King George Island, this is where we will begin our Antarctica cruise. Cruising in and around the bays of the Antarctic Peninsula the scenery is awe-inspiring and wildlife is abounding. As we cruise through the Weddell Sea and it's landscape of monumental icebergs, it will become evident why a trip to Antartica is like no other. Turning north we follow in the footsteps of the Antarctic explorers, as we aim to visit remote Elephant Island, linked forever to the epic Shackleton story. Following this our Antarctic cruise takes us to the Falkland Islands. Here we will see a number of the sub-Antarctic penguins species including Rockhopper, Magellanic and King penguins as well as nesting albatross and petrels.
