High Arctic Odyssey - Remote Russian Archipelagos
This epic adventure of discovery takes you to some of the most remote, rarely visited and extreme regions of the Russian High Arctic; Franz Josef Land, Novaya Zemlya, the Kara Sea and Severnaya Zemlya...perfect for the intrepid adventurer!
Setting sail from Murmansk in Russia, we explore heavily glaciated Novaya Zemlya (New Land), a vast area of pristine Arctic wilderness where polar bears roam. This is a land of massive extinct volcanoes, jagged ice cliffs and the isolated mountains. Perhaps we will be lucky and witness a walrus haul-out!
We sail further east to the ‘ice cellar of the Arctic’ - the Kara Sea, where we follow in the footsteps of the Arctic explorers who set out in search of the fabled Northeast Passage. We may even explore Severnaya Zemlya, the last major territorial discovery on the planet, where so few have explored before. Then onto Franz Josef Land, a group of 200 remote islands within the Arctic Circle and part of the Russian Arctic National Park, we were continue our search for polar bear, walrus rookeries, and seabird colonies.
The remote corners of the world are waiting for you in the high arctic!
